Surnames of Anavriti (Vryseon) from the Mitroon Arrenon (Male Register)

In July 2014 at the Sparta office of the General Archives of Greece, I was given permission to take digital images of pages of records of the Male Registers (Mitroon Arrenon) that listed names found in my family tree. I have created an index of the surnames of Anavriti, as found in the pages of the Male Registers that I obtained.

If your family name is listed below, please contact the GAK office in Sparta for assistance in obtaining copies of the records. The staff is kind and most helpful: Maria, Michalis, and K. Gavala speak English and are sincerely desirous to be of assistance.

The GAK office email address is: mail@gak.lak.sch.gr
The mailing address is:
GAK – Archives of Laconia
174 Vrasidou
Sparta 23100
Telephone:  27310-22884

Please note that this list is not complete, as I the pages I have are limited to my family names.

  1. I see the names of my great-great grandparents! Sophia Korinis (of Kalyvia Sochas) and Peter Lazaris (of Anavryti). I am actually travelling to Greece this July and I am hoping to go the village and see if I can find any of my family there.

  2. This is really interesting, thanks for sharing! I recognise my family names, Livas and Plevritis. I know a little bit about them, but nothing about other names linked to the family, like Linardos. Do you perhaps happen to have any information around those names?

  3. Hi, My wife is Siggelakis from here. I will send for info. Anything else you can suggest would be helpful. Thanks, Mike

  4. I’m a Georgopoulos and I was. Inquiring about having any family left in Sparta or when my great grandparents came over to the united States.

    • Yes, there are many relatives here. Just spread out — many left Sparta. What is your age and names of great grandparents?

      • My great-grandparents names are: Andreas Kostakos of Agios Ioannis, married Politimi Christakos of Xirokambi; Georgios Michail Aridas of Agios Ioannis, married Afroditi Lerikos of Agios Ioannis; Panagiotis Nikolaos Papagiannakos of Agios Ioannis, married Aikaterini ELiopoulou of Sikaraki; Konstandinos Ioannis Eftaxias of Mystras, married Stathoula Zaharakis of Theologos, Sellasia.
